The ultimate reveal of today's PlayStation State of Play was the teaser for God of War Trilogy Remake. As the name suggest, Santa Monica Studio is revisiting the original trilogy of games that turned Kratos from an angry Spartan warrior into an even angrier God-slaying icon. TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, greeted fans to explain that the Trilogy Remake has entered development but is in the early stages. Thus, it will be some time before Santa Monica will be able to share another update. "But I'm telling you, I'm telling you, next time we come back, we coming with something big, baby," says Carson. The teaser trailer only gave us a fiery logo to admire, bu…

Sony and Sony Santa Monica teased that it is remaking the original God of War trilogy, but it will be a while before we see it, let alone play it. To help with the sting of the wait, today it is releasing God of War Sons of Sparta. The game is developed by Mega Cat Studios, which in recent history has mostly worked on backyard sports games, in partnership with Santa Monica Studio. Sons of Sparta is a 2D, pixelated action game that follows a young Kratos and his brother Deimos. The game's description reads, "They must overcome threats that will put all their training to the test while confronting the true meaning of duty and honor." This is not the first time we have play…

Saber Interactive, which is the developer behind all kinds of games like World War Z, Evil Dead: The Game, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, has revealed John Wick, a third-person action game based on the brutal action movies. It's being developed alongside John Wick movie series director Chad Stahelski and features Keanu Reeves' likeness – there's no word on whether he will return to voice the character in the game, though. The trailer looks a lot like the John Wick movies, which means you see a stylish Keanu Reeves shoot, punch, and stab enemies with ease. The trailer shows a tailor of sorts creating a new suit for John Wick, explaining, "A man with your skillset m…

If the explosive popularity of the Metroidvania genre is any indication, Castlevania is one of the most influential game series of all time. That said, it's been years since the franchise got a new entry, and even longer since it got a 2D entry. Thankfully, today's PlayStation State of Play announced that the series, much like Dracula, is rising from a deep slumber. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, a new sidescrolling entry in the series, will drop later this year. The game is being developed in a partnership between Konami, which made the originals, and two indie teams: Evil Empire and Motion Twin. The latter two are best known for their work on the Dead Cells games, with …

Saros is not a sequel to Returnal (at least we don't think it is), but it is undeniably a follow-up to Housemarque's excellent rogue game, building on what the team built mechanically in that game. Today's State of Play Saros trailer focused on many elements that will separate it from Returnal. For one, there are many more characters to interact with. Between runs you will talk to other survivors in The Passage. There also appear to be far more permanent progression options to unlock. The trailer also showed options for making the game more difficult or easier by turning on and off abilities. Housemarque stressed, however, that striking a balance is important. You can al…

A video game staple beginning in 1996, the Legacy of Kain series is a beloved set of action games following the exploits of warring vampires in the land of Nosgoth. After the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003, however, the franchise went frustratingly quiet (though there was a short-lived multiplayer game Nosgoth in 2014 that never properly left open beta). Last year, however, saw the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered which, as the title implies, remastered the Soul Reaver games. Today we're learning, however, that those games were a portend of what's to come. Alongside a planned remaster of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, a brand new prequel…

Arc System Works' take on the Marvel tag fighter, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, is locked in for a launch date. It'll arrive on August 6, 2026, and there will be quite a few X-Men entering the fray. The release date was announced during today's Sony State of Play, as Fighting Souls will arrive for both PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026. Additionally, we got three more X-Men locked in for launch. While we already knew Storm was making the cut for launch, Arc System Works confirmed Wolverine, Magik, and Danger will also be joining as part of the Unbreakable X-Men team. Wolverine looks to tear it up the way we know he can, from previous Marvel fighting games. Magik incorporates …

Silent Hill: Townfall, the Silent Hill spin-off from Konami, Annapurna, and Screen Burn got a new trailer today. Footage of the game showed new character Simon exploring his own version of a Silent Hill doing melee and shooting in first-person perspective in a creepy coastal town. Announced in 2022, Townfall is meant to be the start of an anthology Silent Hill series. It's unclear if that is still the intention based on the trailer, but Konami is sharing more details following today's State of Play stream. We don't have a release date yet, but it is coming in 2026. View the full article

The Bird That Drinks Tears is a series of high-fantasy novels by South Korean author Lee Youngdoo that began in 2003. Now, some 23 years later, South Korea-based publisher/developer Krafton has announced Project Windless, a Dynasty Warriors-like action game where you play as a sword-wielding chicken based on the books. Despite the imagery "sword-wielding chicken" might conjure in your head, it's actually a stylized, brutal, and bloody action game where the chicken is anthropomorphic and really good with sharp blades. He uses those blades to tear through hordes of enemies – the reveal trailer shown during today's PlayStation State of Play showed hundreds of enemies on scr…

Dead or Alive's last mainline entry dropped nearly seven years ago, so the long-running fighting series was due for a revival. Today's State of Play showcase confirmed exactly that, not only announcing Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, a remaster of the sixth entry on PS5, but also a brand new game, which may or may not be Dead or Alive 7. The video description for the Dead or Alive 6 Last Round announcement refers to the project as "the definitive version of Dead or Alive 6." It not only brings the game to PlayStation 5, but it also adds DLC characters to the main roster and teases the addition of more playable fighters and costumes in future updates. Additionally, a free-to-…

The latest trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer showcased more impressive gameplay, cited the Galactic League, and teased a little bit of what to expect from the story. The trailer also showed some first-person racing, destruction, tracks that aren't covered in sand, destroyed Star Destroyers, and some speeder bikes. The big tease, however, was when the trailer showed off a proper podracer vehicle on the track. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is coming 2026, but we still don't have an exact date. View the full article

Today's PlayStation State of Play kicked off the reveal of a sequel to 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Titled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the adventure sees an older Kena travel to a new land, and it's coming this year. In Scars of Kosmora Kena, now older and more famous, travels to a mysterious new island in search of a cure for an affliction and to reconnect with a long-lost friend. Control Resonant is the latest in Remedy's supernatural shared-universe, moving from a third-person shooter to more up-close-and-personal action combat. Today, we saw a little glimpse of what that looks like. In the new gameplay we saw at today's Sony State of Play, we get to see some of Dylan Faden in action. The new Control lead can use supernatural powers to blast enemies off the side of the warping, twisting level geometry. Between a host of kinetic powers, an ever-changing weapon, and Gravity Rush-like powers that let Dylan shift his grounding, the action gets pretty hectic. Ultimately culminating in a boss fight, we can see Dylan leap and fly through the air trying…

This free update will go live for anyone who owns Ghost of Yōtei and, similar to Ghost of Tsushima Legends mode, will feature cooperative multiplayer action for up to four players. This time, you'll be taking on the "demonic Yōtei Six," which appear to be mythological spins on the Yōtei Six protagonist Atsu fought against in the game's single-player campaign. Check it out in the Ghost of Yōtei Legends …
