Project Windless Is A Dynasty Warriors-Like Action RPG Where You Play As A Sword-Wielding Chicken

Project Windless Krafton Dynasty Warriors Action RPG Single Player Open World

The Bird That Drinks Tears is a series of high-fantasy novels by South Korean author Lee Youngdoo that began in 2003. Now, some 23 years later, South Korea-based publisher/developer Krafton has announced Project Windless, a Dynasty Warriors-like action game where you play as a sword-wielding chicken based on the books.

Despite the imagery "sword-wielding chicken" might conjure in your head, it's actually a stylized, brutal, and bloody action game where the chicken is anthropomorphic and really good with sharp blades. He uses those blades to tear through hordes of enemies – the reveal trailer shown during today's PlayStation State of Play showed hundreds of enemies on screen at once, and our chicken warrior slashes through them with ease.

Check it out in the Project Windless reveal trailer for yourself below:

As you can see, this chicken isn't playing around as he's seemingly on a quest to take down a snake-like woman who speaks of purity and laying siege to soulless enemies of her goddess – presumably, this chicken is Enemy Number One. Krafton describes Project Windless as a "single-player open-world action RPG" where players will "step into a mythic age as a mighty Rekon warrior and journey across a breathtaking, war-torn world."

"Stand against overwhelming odds, forge alliances, and wage war across massive battlefields to unite a fractured land and give birth to a new kingdom," the description reads.

There's no word on when Project Windless is due out (and the fact that it's still going by a "Project" name likely indicates it's years away), but it is in development for PlayStation 5.
