Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Finally Frees Guns Of The Patriots From Its PS3 Prison
Metal Gear fans have begged, and at last Konami is delivering. A second Master Collection of the series is on the way, and it finally ports 2008's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to modern platforms. Announced during today's PlayStation State of Play, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 bundles Guns of the Patriots, 2010's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, formerly a PSP exclusive set during the Big Boss era. Additionally, MGS 4 and Peace Walker also come with screenplay books and a Master book, while the former includes the Metal Gear Solid 4 database. Vol. 2 also includes a digital soundtrack. Interestingly, the collection's graphic also lists Metal Gear Ghost Babel, the Game Boy Color game that tells an alternate story to the original Metal Gear Solid, as "bonus content," but it's not counted as being another game in the collection. One would assume Ghost Babel is playable, but we'll have to wait to learn more. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch on August 27 for PlayStation 5. View the full article

New Legacy Of Kain 2D Action Game Announced Alongside Defiance Remaster
A video game staple beginning in 1996, the Legacy of Kain series is a beloved set of action games following the exploits of warring vampires in the land of Nosgoth. After the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003, however, the franchise went frustratingly quiet (though there was a short-lived multiplayer game Nosgoth in 2014 that never properly left open beta). Last year, however, saw the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered which, as the title implies, remastered the Soul Reaver games. Today we're learning, however, that those games were a portend of what's to come. Alongside a planned remaster of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, a brand new prequel Legacy of Kain game, subtitled Ascendance, is also on the way. Ascendance will be published by Crystal Dynamics and developed by Bit Bot Media in association with FreakZone Games. Whether by design or coincidence, it seems to be following in the footsteps of games like the recent Shinobi: Art of Vengeance and Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound – nostalgic 2D action games meant to revive dormant action franchises. The gameplay looks fast-paced and features three protagonists with different play styles. The gameplay is primarily pixelated, but Bit Bot Media and FreakZone Games are including other art styles like anime cutscenes, and even callbacks to the PlayStation visuals of the original games. The game also reunites the voice cast of the original games and have them reprise their various roles (including Breaking Bad's Anne Gunn as Ariel) and releases on March 31 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch and PC. Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is a remaster of the 2003 game with improvements beyond just visual fidelity. Along with updated character models for the main playable characters and improved lighting, the opening and closing cinematics, the camera controls, and the map system have been overhauled. The game will also include a photo mode and previously cut content and lost levels, including a look at a planned sequel that was cancelled early in development called Lok 6: Dark Prophecy Demo. Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered releases March 3 on just about every platform. View the full article

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Locks In An August Launch, And A Few More X-Men
Arc System Works' take on the Marvel tag fighter, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, is locked in for a launch date. It'll arrive on August 6, 2026, and there will be quite a few X-Men entering the fray. The release date was announced during today's Sony State of Play, as Fighting Souls will arrive for both PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026. Additionally, we got three more X-Men locked in for launch. While we already knew Storm was making the cut for launch, Arc System Works confirmed Wolverine, Magik, and Danger will also be joining as part of the Unbreakable X-Men team. Wolverine looks to tear it up the way we know he can, from previous Marvel fighting games. Magik incorporates some big sword swings and teleportation powers, and Danger seems like the X-Men's own training room come to life as an android? Honestly, that rules. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set for August 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. View the full article

Silent Hill: Townfall Is Coming This Year From Konami And Annapurna
Silent Hill: Townfall, the Silent Hill spin-off from Konami, Annapurna, and Screen Burn got a new trailer today. Footage of the game showed new character Simon exploring his own version of a Silent Hill doing melee and shooting in first-person perspective in a creepy coastal town. Announced in 2022, Townfall is meant to be the start of an anthology Silent Hill series. It's unclear if that is still the intention based on the trailer, but Konami is sharing more details following today's State of Play stream. We don't have a release date yet, but it is coming in 2026. View the full article

Project Windless Is A Dynasty Warriors-Like Action RPG Where You Play As A Sword-Wielding Chicken
The Bird That Drinks Tears is a series of high-fantasy novels by South Korean author Lee Youngdoo that began in 2003. Now, some 23 years later, South Korea-based publisher/developer Krafton has announced Project Windless, a Dynasty Warriors-like action game where you play as a sword-wielding chicken based on the books. Despite the imagery "sword-wielding chicken" might conjure in your head, it's actually a stylized, brutal, and bloody action game where the chicken is anthropomorphic and really good with sharp blades. He uses those blades to tear through hordes of enemies – the reveal trailer shown during today's PlayStation State of Play showed hundreds of enemies on screen at once, and our chicken warrior slashes through them with ease. Check it out in the Project Windless reveal trailer for yourself below: As you can see, this chicken isn't playing around as he's seemingly on a quest to take down a snake-like woman who speaks of purity and laying siege to soulless enemies of her goddess – presumably, this chicken is Enemy Number One. Krafton describes Project Windless as a "single-player open-world action RPG" where players will "step into a mythic age as a mighty Rekon warrior and journey across a breathtaking, war-torn world." "Stand against overwhelming odds, forge alliances, and wage war across massive battlefields to unite a fractured land and give birth to a new kingdom," the description reads. There's no word on when Project Windless is due out (and the fact that it's still going by a "Project" name likely indicates it's years away), but it is in development for PlayStation 5. Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round Arrives In June, New Dead Or Alive In Development
Dead or Alive's last mainline entry dropped nearly seven years ago, so the long-running fighting series was due for a revival. Today's State of Play showcase confirmed exactly that, not only announcing Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, a remaster of the sixth entry on PS5, but also a brand new game, which may or may not be Dead or Alive 7. The video description for the Dead or Alive 6 Last Round announcement refers to the project as "the definitive version of Dead or Alive 6." It not only brings the game to PlayStation 5, but it also adds DLC characters to the main roster and teases the addition of more playable fighters and costumes in future updates. Additionally, a free-to-play version of the game will be available at launch, though it's unclear how that would differ from the paid version. You'll be able to play either version on June 25, when Last Round launches. After series producer Yosuke Hayashi introduced Last Round, he threw in a teaser for another game: Dead or Alive is getting another entry. While it might be called Dead or Alive 7, it's currently just referred to as "Dead or Alive New Project." The brief teaser also calls attention to the fact that 2026 marks the Dead or Alive Series' 30th anniversary, so the pair of projects is a part of developer Team Ninja's celebration of that milestone. Star Wars: Galactic Racer Teases More Podracing
The latest trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer showcased more impressive gameplay, cited the Galactic League, and teased a little bit of what to expect from the story. The trailer also showed some first-person racing, destruction, tracks that aren't covered in sand, destroyed Star Destroyers, and some speeder bikes. The big tease, however, was when the trailer showed off a proper podracer vehicle on the track. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is coming 2026, but we still don't have an exact date. View the full article

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition Releases Tomorrow, Collects Five Versions Of The Original Game
Ubisoft in partnership with developer Digital Eclipse (Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, Tetris Forever) announced today Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition and it releases tomorrow, February 13 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC for $19.99. Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition is billed as a celebration of 30 years of Rayman, but focuses on the very first Rayman game that released on PlayStation (and a few other platforms) back in 1995. Anniversary Edition doesn't radically remaster the original game, but rather includes the PlayStation, Atari Jaguar, MS-DOS, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy Color versions of the game. It also includes a "never-before-playable" SNES prototype of the game. Other additions include 120 added levels, a "reimagined" soundtrack from Christophe Héral, rewind abilities, the option to turn on infinite lives and invincibility, and, in typical Digital Eclipse fashion, an interactive documentary with about an hour's worth of interviews. The documentary features also include unseen concept art, early sketches, and design documents. View the full article

Kena: Scars Of Kosmora Guides Players To A New Adventure This Year
Today's PlayStation State of Play kicked off the reveal of a sequel to 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Titled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the adventure sees an older Kena travel to a new land, and it's coming this year. In Scars of Kosmora Kena, now older and more famous, travels to a mysterious new island in search of a cure for an affliction and to reconnect with a long-lost friend. Unfortunately, a powerful corruption fractures her staff, so she must master a new and forgotten form of Spirit Guiding that allows her to command the elements. Most interestingly, the trailer does not show any of her little friends, the Rot, that accompanied her in the first game. Instead, she joined by new animal companions such as a small, magical fox, and we even see her riding a deer-like fox in an open world. Developer Ember Lab promises deeper, more dynamic combat as the action still sees Kena using her staff to unleash combo attacks and parry incoming offense. She also uses it to conjure giant green crystals to drop on foes or transform the staff into a heavier, claymore-like weapon. Kena: Scars of Kosmora is coming later this year for PlayStation 5 and PC. View the full article

Control Resonant Shows Off New Reality-Warping Gameplay
Control Resonant is the latest in Remedy's supernatural shared-universe, moving from a third-person shooter to more up-close-and-personal action combat. Today, we saw a little glimpse of what that looks like. In the new gameplay we saw at today's Sony State of Play, we get to see some of Dylan Faden in action. The new Control lead can use supernatural powers to blast enemies off the side of the warping, twisting level geometry. Between a host of kinetic powers, an ever-changing weapon, and Gravity Rush-like powers that let Dylan shift his grounding, the action gets pretty hectic. Ultimately culminating in a boss fight, we can see Dylan leap and fly through the air trying to dodge the imposing foe before taking it out. No release date was set today, but Remedy is still aiming for a 2026 launch. View the full article

Ghost Of Yōtei: Legends, The Free Four-Player Co-Op Multiplayer Mode, Goes Live Next Month
Last year, Sucker Punch Productions launched Ghost of Yōtei exclusively on PlayStation 5, with the promise of a free update for its multiplayer Legends mode. Now, courtesy of a new trailer during today's State of Play, we know Ghost of Yōtei Legends goes live on March 10. This free update will go live for anyone who owns Ghost of Yōtei and, similar to Ghost of Tsushima Legends mode, will feature cooperative multiplayer action for up to four players. This time, you'll be taking on the "demonic Yōtei Six," which appear to be mythological spins on the Yōtei Six protagonist Atsu fought against in the game's single-player campaign. Check it out in the Ghost of Yōtei Legends release date trailer below: In this trailer, we got a look at the Spider, Oni, Kitsune, and Snake, and while they all look somewhat human, they are also clearly infused with elements of mythology and folk tale legend that make them appear otherworldly; they probably fight using otherworldly powers, too. We see the four-player party in the trailer fight various mob enemies in an effort to reach the demonic Yōtei Six in all kinds of locales (in different seasons, too). Players will choose between four classes, which haven't yet been announced, and utilize different skills, weapons, and more to take down bosses. Ghost of Yōtei's Legends update launches as a free update to the game on March 10. In the meantime, read Game Informer's Ghost of Yōtei review, and then read about how Sucker Punch's co-founder Brian Fleming is departing from the studio. After that, read about why Ghost of Yōtei was one of Game Informer's top 10 games of the year. Are you going to check out the Legends update next month? Let us know in the comments below! Highguard Developer Wildlight Entertainment Reportedly Lays Off 'Most Of The Team'
Developer Wildlight Entertainment released its free-to-play raid shooter, Highguard, last month, on January 26, to mixed results. Now, just a few weeks after the game's launch, most of the team has reportedly been laid off. That's according to former Highguard level designer Alex Graner, who posted on LinkedIn today, stating, "Unfortunately, along with most of the team at Wildlight, I was laid off today." In Graner's post, he says this layoff "really stings as there was a lot of unreleased content I was really looking forward to that I and others designed for Highguard." If we take his words literally, it sounds like that content might never be released, which would be shocking but not unprecedented in this industry, which has been under constant disruption due to layoffs. Highguard has been climbing a steep hill since its reveal as the final "world premiere" at The Game Awards 2025 back in December. Its reveal didn't go over well with audiences, likely due to its placement as the closing spot during the awards ceremony and its difficult-to-parse style of FPS. Nonetheless, Wildlight released the game for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on January 26. Game Informer Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller called it a promising contender in his Highguard review. Just last week, Game Informer covered the news of Highguard's Episode 2 content drop, which added a ranked mode, a new hero, another map, and more. Game Informer has reached out to Wildlight Entertainment to learn more about the layoffs Graner is referencing, how many team members were laid off, and more. This story will be updated if we learn more. View the full article

Diablo’s New Class Is The Warlock, And It's Coming to Diablo II: Resurrected Today
During today’s Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight event, Blizzard announced the series’ newest class is the Warlock, and it’s coming to Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo Immortal, and Diablo IV — each game featuring a unique interpretation of the demon-wielding archetype. While the Diablo team is holding back details of the Warlock’s class identity in Diablo IV’s Lord of Hatred expansion and Diablo Immortal, it is bringing the new character to Diablo II: Resurrected today via the new Reign of the Warlock DLC. Diablo II’s rendition of the Warlock can summon three demons: the Tainted, the Defiler, and the Goatman. The class can also bind (read: tame) themself to almost any demon in the game, benefiting from its unique abilities. Additionally, the Warlock may choose to devour the bound demon, granting themself temporary buffs based on the consumed demon. Watch the Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight: “From the very get-go, it feels like such a natural extension of Diablo to have a character like the Warlock,” associate game director Zaven Haroutunian tells me. “From a narrative perspective, Necromancers [...] are all about maintaining a balance. They’re almost neutral in tone and in how they think. [...] Warlocks, however, are more ostentatious [...] they’re very loud with all the things they do.” “Mechanically, they’re actually very different from Necromancers, which are all about building up an army,” Haroutunian continues. “The Warlock doesn’t do that. [...] All the stuff he’s bringing in is disposable. He doesn’t actually care about them. They are just his tools, right?” When asked how the disparate teams are differentiating the class’s abilities across three games (while still maintaining a unified theme), Haroutunian tells me that each team did whatever it needed to to make the Warlock fit their game. The associate game director likens the process to the creation of Diablo IV’s recent Paladin class and how his team distinguished it from Diablo II’s standard. Diablo II: Reign of the Warlock is available now on Battle.net, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. View the full article

Blizzard Is Bringing The Warlock Class To Diablo IV: Lord Of Hatred, Diablo II, And Diablo Immortal
Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that the Warlock class is coming to Diablo IV as part of the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion, as well as the mobile-centric Diablo Immortal this June. Plus, you can play using this new Warlock class starting today in Diablo II: Resurrected as part of a new Reign of the Warlock DLC. To announce the news, Blizzard released a Warlock class cinematic that is loosely about a more generic Warlock – one that could exist in any of the three aforementioned Diablo games. The Warlock will join the already available Paladin in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred when that expansion launches on April 28. The Lord of Hatred expansion costs $49.99, and preordering gets you instant access to the Paladin and day one access to the Warlock in April; on the Diablo II side of things, you can purchase the Reign of the Warlock DLC individually for $24.99 on Battle.net, or as part of the Diablo II: Resurrected Infernal Edition bundle for $39.99 on both Battle.net and Steam. Check out the Warlock class cinematic trailer for yourself below: Blizzard describes the Warlock as a "master of dark magic, forbidden rites, and knowledge the world refuses to understand. Hardened by betrayal and driven by survival, they stand ready for whatever may come their way." For more, read Game Informer's Diablo IV review, and then read our Diablo II: Resurrected review after that. You can also read Game Informer's Diablo Immortal review here. Masters Of Albion: Check Out More Than Six Minutes Of New Gameplay For Peter Molyneux's Next (And Final) Game
Masters of Albion, the god-simulator from Fable creator Peter Molyneux, launches on April 22, and ahead of the game's PC release, developer 22 Cans has released nearly seven minutes of all-new gameplay in an extended trailer. The game, which puts players in control of a god-like hand to master real-time strategy, town management, and simulation, also lets players become one of their villages' many NPCs to explore, fight, explore dungeons, and more. There's a taste of all that and more in the new trailer, and you can check it out below: "Masters of Albion is a bold reimagining of the God Game genre, from the creator who defined it," the trailer's description reads. "Revel in the freedom of true Godhood. In Masters of Albion, there is no single solution. Build whatever, wherever. Hire whoever, wherever. Kill or carry, crush or coax. You are the ultimate power." Notably, Masters of Albion will be Molyneux's final game, as he and 22 Cans said when the team announced it during Gamescom 2024. Molyneux, who is the mind behind Populous and Black and White, as well as Fable (the original), said Masters of Albion is "the culmination of my life's work" back when the game was first announced. Masters of Albion launches on April 22 exclusively on PC via Steam. While waiting for its launch in April, check out the Masters of Albion release date trailer for more details about the simulator's many features and mechanics.
