We’re approaching the 2nd anniversary of Enshrouded’s early access launch on January 24, and developer Keen Games is marking the occasion by revealing the game’s 1.0 launch window. While we already knew the survival action RPG would exit early access this year, that timeframe has been narrowed to sometime this fall. Until then, Keen Games has released a developer diary where it discusses plans for one last major content update for the early access build. While the details of this update are under wraps, Adventure Sharing, which lets players share creations with the community, will be one of the additions. When Enshrouded hits 1.0, new areas of the map will be unlocked, a…

Out of nowhere, Nintendo has released a significant free update to Donkey Kong Returns HD. Players can now enjoy a new playable character, an additional mode, and Switch 2 owners reap the benefits of graphical and technical boosts. The update adds Dixie Kong as a new playable character. As in her previous appearances, she can use her ponytail like a helicopter rotor to boost Donkey Kong’s jump and glide over longer gaps. Although you can control Dixie, one player will still need to control DK, so it doesn't seem possible to do a Diddy/Dixie team-up à la Donkey Kong Country 2. Whatever your pairing, you can use them in the new Turbo Attack mode that challenges players to r…

After teasing the next Life is Strange game last week, a special livestream that aired this afternoon revealed the next entry is called Life is Strange: Reunion. Max Caulfield returns yet again, alongside her original BFF and fan favorite character, Chloe Price. Developed by Deck Nine, Reunion is a direct follow-up to 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Set once again in Caledon University, the school has been mysteriously set ablaze. Although Max manages to escape the fire thanks to her time rewind power (which makes its full return), all of her friends, the students, and the faculty are killed. Max avoids this fate by jumping back in time through a selfie and has t…

Last year, Doug Bowser, one of the most ironically named people of all time, announced his impending retirement from Nintendo. Initially taking the role in April of 2019, he served as the chief operating officer and president of Nintendo of America for nearly seven years. Thanks to his regular appearances at public events, during Nintendo Directs, and in interviews, he was also one of the faces of the company, so his departure was big news. However, despite leaving his position just a few weeks ago on December 31, Bowser has already found a new gig – serving on the board of Hasbro. Doug Bowser sha…

As part of our World of Warcraft: Midnight cover story, I spoke with several key developers at Blizzard about looking ahead to The Last Titan. This subsequent expansion will bookend the World Soul Saga trilogy. Of course, Blizzard is tight-lipped about the expansion, as it's ostensibly several years away, but I was able to shed some light on its approach to redesigning Northrend, which the company has confirmed is a core focus of The Last Titan. Untouched since its introduction in 2008's Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the iconic location represents World of Warcraft's peak moments in pop culture. Exclusive Details of Northrend's Redesign in The Last Titan: View t…

Ball x Pit is getting its first big update next week, and it will bolster the game with “a wealth of content,” according to developer Kenny Sun and Friends. The update, titled The Regal, will add new characters, more balls, and other features. The Regal arrives on Monday, January 26, and adds two characters: The Carouser and The Falconer. As detailed in a Steam post, the Carosuer’s ability allows returning balls to orbit around him, while The Falconer has two falcons at her side that throw balls. Eight new balls join the game alongside several new passives that have not been detailed. The developer also teases an additional surprise it’s saving until the update launches.…

Grand Theft Auto VI developer Rockstar North was reportedly rocked by an explosion at its Edinburgh, Scotland headquarters this morning, January 19. The incident was apparently tied to a malfunction in the studio's boiler room. According to Scottish outlet The Herald, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted to an emergency at Rockstar North after an alarm was raised at 5:02 a.m. local time. Seven emergency vehicles were dispatched, and firefighters worked to secure “structural damage" to the building. After three hours, the SFRS deemed the area safe and left the building around 9:21 a.m. No casualties were reported. …
