Baldur's Gate 2 Is Reportedly Getting The Remake Treatment With One Of The Original BioWare Lead Designers Returning
Baldur's Gate II is reportedly getting the remake treatment, according to PC Gamer, and former BioWare and Baldur's Gate II lead designer Kevin Martens is returning for it. The publication also reports that it has heard from its sources that the first Baldur's Gate is likely to be getting a remake, too. Martens is already working with Wizards of the Coast for the upcoming sci-fi RPG, Exodus, which looks to be filling gaming's Mass Effect-sized hole when it launches in early 2027. Considering Wizards of the Coast also owns the Baldur's Gate IP, this isn't a surprising return for the developer. According to PC Gamer, Martens is already working on the Baldur's Gate 2 remake, which makes sense since he's technically just contributing to the development of Exodus and is not a full-time developer at studio Archetype Entertainment. Though it's all but guaranteed that Wizards of the Coast is working to get a team on a theoretical Baldur's Gate 4, considering Baldur's Gate 3 has sold more than 20 million copies since its 2023 launch, it's possible the next taste of this D&D world could be this Baldur's Gate II remake, though there's no word on when it's planned for. Larian Studios, which developed Baldur's Gate 3, has made clear it is done with the Baldur's Gate IP, despite wishing it could port the game to Nintendo Switch 2 – it's currently working on Divinity, a new take on its Divinity series that looks disgustingly bloody and terrifying. Elsewhere in the world of Baldur's Gate, Craig Mazin, the showrunner of HBO's The Last of Us, is working on a TV adaptation of Baldur's Gate 3 that will continue the game's story, and this September, a prequel novel about the game's beloved vampire titled "Baldur's Gate 3: Astarion" will hit store shelves. Asus Reveals ROG Xbox Ally X20 With OLED Screen, Upgraded Joysticks, And Transparent Shell
Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG, lol) has announced the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a new version of the ROG Xbox Ally X that launched last year, featuring a larger now-OLED screen, tunneling magnetoresistance joysticks, and a transparent shell. It will still feature the same AMD Ryzen AI Z2 extreme processor that makes last year's ROG Xbox Ally X the handheld powerhouse it is, but this X20 device is likely to cost you a lot more. That's because it will only be available as a bundle alongside the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses. There's no confirmed price for this bundle, nor is there a release date yet, but considering those glasses cost roughly $850 on their own, this bundle is likely to easily clear $2000 – here's hoping they de-bundle the X20 device from the glasses one day. Here's a look at the two devices together in the bundle: This X20 marks the first time Asus has deployed an OLED panel in one of its handheld devices, and it's an exciting upgrade to the portable PC. That said, the new TMR joysticks are a nice improvement, and if you're into the retro-style transparent shells, that's a nice addition too. There are also gold accents built into the device to celebrate 20 years of ROG, and it features a "transforming d-pad" to switch between 4-directional and 8-directional input. The rear of the handgrips will feature a rubberized coating, similar to that found on the Xbox Elite Series controllers. If you aren't familiar with the XREAL glasses, basically, you connect them to your device (the X20 in this case) via a cord, and the handheld's screen is projected into the glasses, giving you a virtual 171-inch screen with a 240Hz display – it's a cool effect and works quite well. Considering Asus' 20th anniversary is this year, it's likely this bundle will be released in 2026, but there's no definitive word on launch price or date. Do you think this is a good upgrade to last year's Xbox ROG Ally X? Let us know in the comments below! View the full article

The Pokémon Company Has Announced a 30th Celebration TCG Set, And It'll Probably Be A Pain To Get Your Hands On
The Pokémon Company has revealed a brand-new trading card game set for the 30th Anniversary of Pokémon and it's appropriately called "30th Celebration." Every card in the pack will be foil, making it quite a special set, alongside 30 new Pikachu illustrations, new "futuristic rare cards featuring Mewtwo and Mew art by Yoshirotten," and the return of classic cards alongside new Pokémon EX cards. Every card will feature a special 30th Anniversary symbol, similar to the 25th Anniversary symbol, when the set launches simultaneously worldwide on September 16. I don't know about you, but as someone who has dropped out of the Pokémon TCG collecting game myself but still tries to buy packs for his nephew, it's rough out there – totally-not-scalpers line up at my local Walmart and TCG stores hours before the unaware card restocker arrives, and then a bunch of grown men (and the occasional sweet grandparent trying to secure some fun for their grandchildren) become animals over cardboard. It's a genuine shame what the hype (see: monetary value) behind Pokémon TCG has done to the hobby for genuine fans and collectors, and I'm sure this 30th Celebration will be a victim of it as well... but we'll see. Check out the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration trailer below for a look at some of the cards and new art: February 27 this year marked 30 years of Pokémon, as that's when Pokémon Red, Blue, and Green launched in Japan in 1996, and to celebrate the occasion, The Pokémon Company launched Pokémon Legends: Z-A back in October before announcing Generation 10 in Pokémon Winds and Waves on Pokémon Day earlier this year. This 30th Celebration TCG set is the latest way The Pokémon Company is celebrating the anniversary. Do you have luck finding Pokémon boosters in stores? Let us know in the comments below! Tekken 8 Director Kohei Ikeda Leaves Bandai Namco After 20 Years, Six Months After Longtime Series Producer Departed
Longtime Tekken leader Kohei Ikeda, who most recently directed Tekken 8, has announced he is departing from Bandai Namco after 20 years at the company. This news follows the departure of veteran Tekken director and producer Katsuhiro Harada in December, marking a significant shift in Tekken's leadership. As for why, Ikeda's announcement doesn't delve into that, instead focusing on the history that comes with 20 years at Bandai Namco, and offering a word of support to those he is passing the Tekken baton to. "I am deeply proud that I had the opportunity to create games alongside such incredible people who poured their hearts into this work," Ikeda writes. "While my role leading the team as Game Director is coming to a close, the values that both I personally and the Tekken Project have always cherished – staying close to the fans and the community and building the game together with everyone – will never change. I have entrusted those values, and that baton, to the incredible team that will continue shaping the future of Tekken. As I look forward to the future of Tekken and the FGC, I will also continue taking on new challenges as a game developer." You can read Ikeda's full departure message in the image below: Click image to enlarge Elsewhere in the world of Tekken, Bandai Namco recently revealed that Kunimitsu joins Tekken 8 this month. The Video Games You Should Play This Weekend – May 29
It's a really good weekend for video games, unlike every other weekend we've had this year which have vacillated between good and great... look – it's already been a good year for video games. I don't know what to tell you. But, I will say that 007 First Light is really good, and so is Mina the Hollower. So, boot up Bond on your TV and start playing Mina on your Switch 2 and do your best to play them simultaneously. Not really interested in either of those? No worries. We have other suggestions, too. But before we get to those, here are some big stories from the week. Inefficient And Laborious – The Ongoing Path To Making Deltarune (formerly behind the subscriber paywall!)Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Is Returning To Basics While Improving On Its GunplayValve Just Raised The Price Of The Steam Deck By Hundreds Of DollarsFable Delayed To February 2027007 First Light Review - Cinematic FlairMina the Hollower Review - Refined Throwback 007 First Light Matt Miller It's been a long time since we've had a great James Bond game arrive on our screens, but the wait is finally over. 007 First Light is a stellar stealth/action game, melding the combat of games like Uncharted with the infiltration of developer IO Interactive's earlier Hitman trilogy. It's also one of the best takes on Bond as a character and a setting in years, video game or otherwise. Excellent acting, gorgeous visual presentation, and a top-notch script really nail what makes this spy such an enduring pop culture fixture. If you've been on the fence about the game, I'm here to tell you it's worth taking the plunge. To learn more, you can read my full review, or check out the coverage we completed when 007 First Light appeared as our cover story earlier this year. Mina the Hollower Kyle Hilliard Mina the Hollower is out today on pretty much every platform available (I actually played the game primarily on my AYN Thor and it ran great!) and it's a charming-as-hell Dark Souls and Zelda-inspired throwback. You can read my full review here where I praise its story and how it makes the player feel challenged and rewarded in lots of different ways, but one element I didn't really get into there are the new game plus options. It doesn't really function like a traditional new game plus where you get to breeze through the game again with all your abilities and power level intact from the first playthrough. Instead, it randomizes certain elements so your revisitations feel different each time. It's a cool approach to a game that is hard to put down even after you beat it (I am still playing it despite having published my review days ago). One warning, though – be careful if you're trying to hit 100% in your first save file. I accidentally started a new game plus without backing up my save before I was fully done with the game. Learn from my mistake. What's The Password Charles Harte What's The Password is perhaps the most straightforward example of an effective puzzle game formula one could conceive of. The art style is minimal, with large pixels making up the game's utilitarian black and white UI. Each level is a puzzle, and each puzzle's solution is a four-digit passcode, but across the game's dozens of levels, the solutions slowly get more elaborate. Sometimes you have to do simple math, sometimes you need to bust out a calculator, most times it involves deducing patterns, and in one instance, I had to solve three mini picross-style puzzles to see what number the solutions looked like. I don't love every puzzle I've played, but the hit rate is reliably high, and a skip button ensures you don't have to linger too long on any given challenge if you don't want to. I've played for just about 90 minutes and I'm a little over halfway through, so it's a quick one, and at the time of writing, it's on a launch sale for only about $7 on Steam. May has been full of several huge AAA releases, but I always enjoy finding time to pick up smaller games from smaller devs on the side. Deadlock Eric Van Allen I am firmly back in my pit; which is to say, I've found a MOBA to occupy my time. Specifically, Deadlock, Valve's out-but-not-out third-person MOBA/shooter hybrid. Yes, it's still in a weird invite-only limbo where people who are already in get invites, and can then send said invites to other people. That said, invites are easier than ever to source thanks to how many people have them now. And really, this one's a good time. Fellow video craftsman Alex Van Aken and I have been playing quite a bit of Street Brawl, the 4v4 single-lane mode where you play quick rounds and do a roguelite pick-3 for items between them, so no worrying about navigating a shop or build order. I've been really liking some of the newcomers, Celeste and Paige. And really, the more I play, the more I'm appreciating how Deadlock isn't just doing a traditional MOBA all over again, but really making use of its mechanics, movement, and systems to forge something that feels different. When this hits 1.0, I think we might need to do a full evaluation of it alongside the likes of Valve's other hallowed multiplayer games like Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2. See y'all in the streets! Bluey's Quest For The Gold Pen Matt Miller There's a reason you keep seeing this little animated blue dog everywhere in recent years. For families with young kids, it's one of those rare properties that has a lot to offer to both kids and adults. After an earlier release on mobile platforms, this game adaptation just hit consoles. For families looking to enjoy an interactive take on the Heeler family's antics, it's a good time, and approachable enough for even very young kids to navigate and enjoy. The game sees Bluey navigating a semi-open world space, picking up collectibles, solving very light puzzles, and meeting up with both familiar and new faces from the show. The biggest draw is that the game is written by series creator Joe Brumm, so the dialogue has that great banter that the show is known for. Black Jacket Brian Shea After falling in love with Inscryption and, subsequently, Balatro, I've enjoyed experiencing how developers experiment with well-established card games by introducing new mechanics and, in the case of Black Jacket, a story. As a soul navigating the afterlife, you progress through Blackjack battle after Blackjack battle, getting your score as close to 21 without going over. As the hands progress, you wager more, with the first player to run out of coins losing. But it's far from just regular Blackjack, as cards can carry certain effects, like allowing you to peek at your top cards and rearrange them or outright destroying your enemy’s cards to dash away their plans. Each stage has a boss battle against another chatty soul in the underworld, and with a roguelite structure, you encounter them multiple times over the course of various runs, and each time you defeat them, you either learn more of their mortal backstory or earn cards they use from their deck. These cards combine with other cards you accumulate through your run to customize your deck and, by extension, your strategy. I’m not quite as enamored by Black Jacket as I was Inscryption or Balatro, but I’m still having a blast. The Switch version has become my go-to plane game as I continue my current travel gauntlet. Tabletop Pick: Wroth Matt Miller Chip Theory Games is often recognized for its excellent and extremely large and complex games like The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era and Cloudspire. But Wroth is a welcome exception to that trend, offering a smaller but still deeply rewarding strategic area control game with a lot of flexibility to be played the way you like -- competitive, cooperative, or even solo. Players control one of several asymmetric factions in a quest to control and dominate the lands of the Drudgeon peninsula. Because each playable group is different, there's a lot of replayability as you figure out how each works, and the unique fighters that can lead you to victory. And while super-expansive and complex games can be a ton of fun, Wroth has the advantage of being very teachable in just a few minutes, and a full playthrough won't take much more than an hour. If your table of friends is looking for something that is fun and quick to pick up, but doesn't skimp on the compelling balance and tactical elements, this one should be a hit. View the full article

Don't Expect Witcher 4 Expansions, As CDPR CEO Says The Studio Wants To Release 3 Witcher Games In A 6-Year Period
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which launched way back in 2015, is getting a third expansion next year. Despite the expansion love for Geralt's latest/maybe last adventure, it sounds like you shouldn't expect expansions for The Witcher IV. That's because CDPR CEO Michał Nowakowski recently stated in an earnings call that including an expansion for The Witcher IV might be tough, considering the studio wants to release three Witcher games in a six-year period, as reported by GamesRadar. We still don't know when The Witcher IV, which is set to star Ciri, the Witcher-in-training who fought alongside Geralt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will be released. But when it does launch, it will kickstart a six-year period in which CDPR plans to release not just The Witcher IV, but two additional Witcher games, creating a trilogy. It's an ambitious pipeline, something Nowakowski is aware of. "As you mentioned in the question, the plans are pretty ambitious," Nowakowski said in the call when asked if CDPR has any room to develop expansions for the new Witcher saga, which begins with The Witcher IV. "Specifically, it's to release three Witcher games within a six-year period. It would be difficult, to be very honest, for us to add an expansion to the upcoming trilogy. This is where we are here and now with this particular issue." Considering just how well-received The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansions were – with Hearts of Stone in 2015 and Blood and Wine the following year – and how excited fans are for the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, this might be disappointing to hear. Hopefully, brand new Witcher games make up for it. While waiting for The Witcher IV, check out the latest Unreal Engine showcase, which gives us another look at Ciri and her new horse, Kelpie. After that, read Game Informer's Witcher 3: Wild Hunt review, and then check out this list of our most anticipated games of 2026 and beyond. [Source: GamesRadar] Would you prefer expansions, or do you prefer CDPR to focus on new games? Let us know in the comments below! View the full article

Call Of Duty: Warzone For PS4 And Xbox One Is Being Delisted And Will Shut Down Later This Year
Activision and Infinity Ward revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 yesterday, which will be the first entry in this generation to release only on current-gen consoles, leaving PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind. It won’t be alone, as Call of Duty Warzone is also abandoning last-gen hardware. In a blog post, Activision announced that Call of Duty’s popular battle royale is being removed from PS4 and Xbox One storefronts on June 4. Once this happens, it will no longer be available for download. If the game is already in your library, you can still install and play Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One through the end of Season 6 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Overall support for the last-gen versions of Warzone will cease later this year, but Activision does not give an exact shutdown date. The free tiers of the Battle Pass will remain active for last-gen players. Activision states that on June 4, “content purchased with local currency – including COD Points, BlackCell, such as Call of Duty League Operator Packs – will be removed from the Call of Duty: Warzone in-game store and applicable menus on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.” On June 25, Warzone’s in-game store will be removed from PS4 and Xbox One. You can still redeem COD Points until this date. If you continue playing on platforms that support Warzone, such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, remaining COD Points, purchased Battle Pass content and progression, and most content purchased with local currency will be transferred as long as everything is tied to the same Activision account. Warzone first launched on March 10, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can read our original review of the game at launch here. The free-to-play battle royale saw hundreds of players battling it out on large maps until only one remained, and it has been updated and expanded to coincide with each Call of Duty release since its launch, including a 2.0 overhaul in 2022. Although Warzone will continue to be supported on current consoles and PC, it's a bummer to see what's likely not a small portion of the player base losing access to the game in the coming months. Fable Delayed To February 2027
Xbox has delayed Fable to February 2027. It revealed this in a post on X, explaining that it is delaying Playground Games' upcoming reboot of the storied Xbox franchise to give it "the dedicated moment it deserves" amid a packed rest of the year. Playground just launched its latest racer, Forza Horizon 6, earlier this month, and it seems the team will get more time to work on Fable now. Xbox has plenty of other 2026 releases, though, to fill the Fable-sized void, including Minecraft Dungeons II, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which just got revealed yesterday. That's not to mention the industry specter that is Grand Theft Auto VI, which is set to launch in November as well. "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we're moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves," the post reads. "We're excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at Xbox Games Showcase on June 7." As that post mentions, Xbox is expected to highlight upcoming releases like Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and more alongside the usual surprise announcements that these Summer Game Fest-timed showcases feature. Game Informer's video crew will livestream their reactions to the showcase when it airs on Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Be sure to bookmark Game Informer's 2026 Summer Showcase Schedule to stay up to date on when each presentation airs. Fable will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in February of next year. Do you think delaying Fable to 2027 is the right call? Let us know in the comments below! 007 First Light Has Already Sold Over A Million Copies
007 First Light launched only two days ago, on May 27, but the latest James Bond game is already performing well. Developer IO Interactive announced yesterday that the game has surpassed one million copies sold. To be more exact, it has sold 1.5 million copies as of May 28, roughly 24 hours after it launched. The impressive launch sales pair with a positive critical reception, including an 8.75 out of 10 from us at Game Informer. 007 First Light is an original Bond story detailing the origins of the agent who becomes 007. The game comes from Hitman developer IO Interactive, and is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Switch 2 version is scheduled to launch later this year. For more on 007 First Light, check out editor Charles Harte’s opinion piece on why it has one of the best tutorial sequences he’s played.
