The Switch 2 continues to be a sales juggernaut, as Nintendo has announced that it has sold over 10 million Switch 2 consoles in its first six months. In its 2nd quarter fiscal year report, Nintendo states 10.36 million Switch 2 units have been sold from its June 5 launch through the end of September. Although Nintendo frames this number as an overall decrease from the Switch 2’s hot start, which established it as the fastest-selling home console ever, it has remained a strong performer. Publisher NetEase is planning to shut down Fantastic Pixel Castle, a studio it founded in 2023 and led by Greg Street, formerly of Blizzard and Riot Games. The studio was developing a triple-A MMORPG codenamed Ghost. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Street announced the impending closure on LinkedIn yesterday. I reached 30 hours in Ghost of Yōtei last night. Since picking it back up again after a quick review departure to cover Little Nightmares III for Game Informer, I have been devouring Sucker Punch Productions’ spiritual follow-up to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. I spend each work day excited to reach the night because it’s then that I can jump back into this 17th-century recreation of Ezo, known as Hokkaido.
