  5. Dungeons & Dragons, despite its unparalleled popularity in the tabletop role-playing space, is undeniably tough for newcomers to approach. There are so many elements to keep track of, and if you're playing analog, not enough space to do it on a standard character sheet. While Dungeons & Dragons has released Starter Sets and Essentials Kits for Fifth Edition in the past, their latest iteration, Heroes of the Borderlands, is the most accessible version yet. It provides a simplified version of the game, chock-full of physical elements like cards and tokens that make the game easier to grasp. After getting a copy to check out myself, I'm impressed by how it all came t…

  14. It has been a jam-packed week of video games here at Game Informer and at large. We reviewed Borderlands 4, interviewed the developers behind it on The Game Informer Show this week ahead of its launch, got our butts kicked in Silksong (again and again), and survived the onslaught that was today's Nintendo Direct. As you might expect, we here at Game Informer love playing video games, and we love writing about them because it's our best way of speaking directly to you – our audience. We enjoy sharing the games we're loving, the ones we're not, what titles fascinate us, what we're looking forward to, and occasionally, what we had for lunch (carne asada is back at Chipotle,…

  15. Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally available, and we've been playing the highly anticipated Metroidvania. In this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, we dive into our impressions of Silksong's first act (roughly the first eight hours, up until the Greymoor area) and boss fights. Beforehand, Marcus interviews Gearbox leads Graeme Timmins and Andrew Reiner (big disclaimer: Reiner was formerly EIC of Game Informer) about Borderlands 4, which was released a few days ago. Finally, we round out the show by breaking down our Hell is Us review, a fascinating investigation puzzle game with action elements. Notably, Hell is Us is not a Soulslike. Watch The Game Informer Show…

  16. The main advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 over its predecessor is its improved hardware, so it's nice that so many developers, Nintendo included, are taking advantage of it to boost Switch 1 titles. Today's Nintendo Direct may have announced huge new games, like Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, but we also got smaller improvements to some exciting games from the Switch 1's lineup. From Stardew Valley to Hades II, here's every Switch 2 version we learned about today. Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 October 2, 2025 …

  18. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is generally regarded as the best – and scariest – entry in the cult favorite Fatal Frame series, and players new and old can experience its scares thanks to a new remake coming next year. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is a modern overhaul of the terrifying journey of twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura, who explore a lost village, encountering supernatural horrors with only a mystical camera to defend themselves. It's unclear what the exact improvements the remake will have beyond the obvious graphical facelift; we do know the game is being developed by Ninja Gaiden and Nioh masterminds, Team Ninja. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Bu…

  19. Nintendo has revealed Mario Tennis Fever, the next entry in the long-running Mario-fronted tennis series, and it's coming exclusively to Switch 2 in February. 21. Fans of farming sims and the Pokémon Ditto can finally combine their very specific passions in Pokémon Pokopia. This new spin-off entry stars a Ditto that transforms into a human and raises a farm with the help of other Pokémon. Pokopia appears to be a strange yet fascinating take on farming and life simulation games like Animal Crossing, Story of Seasons, and Stardew Valley. Players can recruit other Pokémon and learn moves from them to build houses and other structures, grow crops, and build out the surrounding environment. Pokémon Pokopia is coming in 2026 to Switch 2. 22. Fire Emblem is back, and for the first time, it's launching on Switch 2. Fortune's Weave, the latest in the series, centers around a coliseum, which seems to hold the "heroic games," but if we know anything about the series, this seemingly friendly competition will eventually devolve into a massive war between kingdoms. You can check out the reveal trailer below. The trailer focuses on four main characters. Cai (the apparent protagonist based on the fact that we see him freely roaming around the city), says, "I only want to fight so I can save my father's life," making him an unwilling participant in the game. Meanwhile, Theodora boasts about her strength and hopes to be…

  23. Announced during today's Nitnendo Direct, Donkey Kong Bananza is getting DLC today with DK Island & Emerald Rush. DK Island is a new level modeled after Donkey Kong's home from Donkey Kong Country, complete with his giant head. Donkey Kong's family will also be hanging out on the island. If you've beaten the game, Void Kong will also offer to hire you, which leads to the Emerald Rush mode. Though not explicitly called a roguelike mode by Nintendo, it allows DK and Pauline to partake in runs where they have to collect emeralds in a certain amount of time. Collecting fossils and Banandium gems let's DK choose upgrades that he can use on that run. Along with being able …

The publisher-developer announced this during today's Nintendo Direct with an extended look at Requiem, showcasing protagonist Grace Ashcroft, her mom Alyssa Ashcroft, a spooky mansion, and more. Following that, Capcom released a quick video revealing that Village and Biohazard are also coming to Switch 2. Resident Evil Requiem hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026. Villa…

  25. Nintendo has revealed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch this December. More specifically, it hits Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch on December 4, and that same day, a Sylux amiibo will hit stores, too. Before that, though, you can pick up a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Samus amiibo and a Samus + Vi-0-La (motorcycle) amiibo on November 6.
