Dead By Daylight Devs Announce Serious Sam: Shatterverse, A Multiverse, Multiplayer Roguelite Shooter

Serious Sam is making his return, and this time, he's not alone. Revealed during today's Xbox Partner Preview, Serious Sam: Shatterverse is a Spiderverse-inspired take on the first-person shooter, bringing Sams from several dimensions into the same adventure. You can check out the reveal trailer below.

Shatterverse features five playable Sams, each with distinct art styles. Since the game is multiplayer, you and up to four friends can play at once, each assuming the role of a different Sam. Classic weapons will return, but they'll exist alongside new "all-new toys" from the Shatterverse. While previous games in the series were helmed by Croatian studio Croteam, Shatterverse is being developed by Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive, with Devolver Digital returning to publish.

“Our main goal was to respect Serious Sam's rich legacy while presenting it in a fresh, contemporary way unlike anything seen before in the series,” Behaviour Interactive’s Nic Duchesne wrote in a press release. “Working with Devolver has been an incredible, enriching experience for our team. The folks there are real renegades of the video game publishing world: they always put the game first and aren’t afraid to carve their own path.”

While the game was announced during the Xbox Partner Preview, it's not exclusive to the platform – Serious Sam: Shatterverse launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC later this year.
