Pokémon Winds And Waves Is Arriving Next Year

Game Informer

Today during a Pokémon Presents presentation, which is also coinciding with the franchise's 30th anniversary, Game Freak revealed the next proper Pokémon games and they are called Pokémon Winds and Waves. They arrive in 2027.

Alongside showing off the tropical environment that game will take place in, we also got a look at the new starters. Browt appers to be a grass bird-like Pokémon, Gecqua is a water-type gecko, and Pombon is a fire dog-inspired Pokémon.

The footage for the game also showed off the trainers, and teased underwater exploration, which is not a first for the Pokémon series, but is an activity we haven't done in some time.

Other than Browt, Gecqua, and Pombon, no other new Pokémon were shown or teased. It's safe to assume that mechanically, the game will function similarly to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the hints at gameplay appear to confirm as much.

Pokémon Winds and Waves is coming to Switch 2 (no Switch 1 logos were shown in the trailer) in 2027.
