Studio MDHR, the developer behind 2017's Cuphead, has announced it's making two different Cuphead games. The first is a full sequel to the original, but the other is a spin-off called Mighty Cuphead Adventure, and we got our first glimpse at it today. Check out the reveal teaser below:
Temporarily ditching the hand-drawn, Steamboat Willie aesthetic, Might Cuphead Adventure is instead a throwback to a more recent era. Specifically, its pixel graphics and box art evoke old-school Sonic the Hedgehog, though its gameplay seems to resemble the traditional Cuphead gameplay we know and love, combining tight platforming with bullet-hell obstacles.
Cuphead, first released in 2017, remains one of the most beloved indie games, even nearly a decade after its release. The hand-drawn, rubber hose-style animation was groundbreaking at the time, and undoubtedly influenced other recent games, including the recent Mouse: PI for Hire. For omre Cuphead, check out our reviews for the base game and the Delicious Last Course DLC.
